:: NEW DEAL 18-24 VOLUNTARY AND ENVIRONMENTAL TASK FORCE    OPTIONS

Voluntary Action Vale Royal have been running the voluntary option of New Deal since 1998. More recently we have been able to offer a range of New Deal programmes in Vale Royal and Warrington.

New Deal is a scheme in association with JobcentrePlus which offers young people, who have been unemployed for 6 months or more, the opportunity to join a comprehensive programme of Job Searching and practical work experience.

Currently approximately 60% of trainees attending the voluntary option, and 100% attending the Environmental Task Force option are securing long-term permanent employment.

The primary focus of New Deal is to assist our trainees in finding employment; we do this in a variety of ways including using the Internet, the local job papers and via local Employment Agencies.

We also encourage our trainees to partake in workshops that provide them with skills that not only assist them in gaining employment, but also to maintain it. Our workshops cover topics such as body language, interview techniques and workplace etiquette.

We currently offer the following New Deal Options

Basic Employability Training (BET) for 25+ in Vale Royal and Warrington
Programme Centre (25+)
Gateway Elements (18 – 24 yr olds and 25+)
Intensive Activity Period Routeway Training (25+)
Intensive Activity Period Routeway Work Experience (25+)
Voluntary Sector (18-24 yr olds)
Environmental Task Force (18-24 yr olds)
